Why Many Customers Prefer Tiles

Why Many Customers Prefer Tiles

Posted by ExoTiles on 19th Jun 2015

Making a major repair in your home and you want the rooms tiled? Why the idea? Certainly, you may have in mind that using tiles is somewhat classy, aside from the fact that your home will really look nice and neat with them.

Plenty of homes as well as offices are now using the material for a variety of reasons. Let’s take a look at some of the factors why mosaic tiles are preferred by most customers for their bathrooms, kitchens and practically, any room in the home for that matter:

Cost effective

At first glance, you may think that tiles are costly. Of course, if you choose the high end tile, then, you would have to shell out more. As you know, the high end materials, and the more detailed the design, then the greater you’ll have to spend. In the case of mosaics usually the smaller the individual chip size the more labour and cuts involved in manufacturing will result in a higher price.

Whether you're building a new house or renovating, you're only going to be doing it a few times or only once in your life. This applies to all aspects of home construction not just tiles but my advice is if it's the home you plan on living in for a long time then buy the absolute best you can afford now because in a few years time you may regret choosing the cheap white ceramic wall tiles and it's inconvenient and more costly to upgrade them later down the track.

Or if you want to think of it another way, a great looking tile will add resale value to your home compared to a plain white tile.

Easy to clean

As for maintenance, well it depends on the material, Porcelain for example is almost impervious, doesn't need to be sealed and won't be stained. I think we all know that a little soap and water is all you need to clean them. Just wipe and disinfect, or sweep then wash. It's usually the dirt cheap and unglazed ceramics which will be somewhat porous and open to staining but even then you can seal them with a penetrating sealer to protect them.

A common comment people make on mosaics is thinking they are going to be difficult to clean because of 'all the grout lines'. Not really a problem any more as if grouts become dirty, there are specially formulated grout cleaners sold in the market today. That’s how easy to clean and maintain tiles are – no other special maintenance required. If you can afford to use epoxy grout instead of normal grout there will be even less cleaning required.

Unlimited design and style choices

Literally, there’s a wide plethora of ceramic tiles across the universe. Choosing whatever colour, shape and design you like could be daunting. Even when you search the Web, you’ll encounter endless options.

Easy to repair

Damage? A qualified tiler or handyman can do the job no problem. For convenience, always keep a few extra tiles around in the event of damage in the future as you'll never be able to source the exact same colour otherwise. In the case of mosaics it is even easier, individual segments if damaged somehow can be pried out and replaced.

There are still many more advantages to tiles that also include resistance to scratch, moisture, odour, fire and fading.

So, are you convinced now of the versatility of tiles?
